The Eastern Band Cherokee Indians own and operate a world-class fish hatchery. The tour begins at the museum where you will board the tour bus. There is a short ride to the hatchery with a brief narrative about places of interest along the route in Cherokee. At the hatchery, the history, the science and the management of the Qualla fisheries is presented and followed with a question and answer format. On the return trip to the museum, information about the museum will be presented.

There are two primitive Cherokee fish weirs nearby to the museum. The tour will allow you to visit the nearest of these ancient sites. The tour begins at the museum where you will board the tour bus. There is a 20-minute ride to the fish weir site on the Little Tennessee River with a narrative about the Native Americans and later the Cherokee that lived off the land and utilized the fish weir for subsistence. At the fish weir, the methods used to gather and harvest fish is presented and followed with a question and answer format. On the return trip to the museum, directions to view the second fish weir in the area will be provided as well as useful information about the museum.

There are hundreds of beautiful waterfalls in the Southern Appalachians. The tour will allow you to visit a number of the nearest of these points of interest. The tour begins at the museum where you will board the tour bus. There is a brief ride to the first waterfalls and between each waterfall visited. The bus will stop and allow for photography at selected waterfalls. The stories, history and facts about each waterfall visited will be presented followed by a question and answer format. The tour will end back at the museum.
